A long time ago, Nine West had more leather bags than pleather. There’s nothing wrong with pleather. This is a brown soft pebbled leather shoulder bag with a smooth leather handle. It unbuckles to switch with other handles you might have. That might sound crazy, but “they” sell that kind of thing, like woven colorful handles of different lengths. Inside zip pocket and outside divided slip pocket. I never used this; I got it from the thrift store for Kaia who used to LOVE brown. It looks like the person who gave it up didn’t use it, either.
Holding on to memories through things is tricky. My mom died 20 years ago this August, and my dear friend Joy died three years ago. Or was it four? Either way – I got this purse from Joy after she died. She got it from my mom’s collection after Mom died. I have a few of Joy’s bags, and a few of Mom’s bags. This is not one I love enough to keep. My mom left LOTS of stuff behind.
Vintage Nine West purple crossbody camera bag style holds more than you’d think thanks to its boxy shape. Large zippered compartments split 1/3 with a separate zipper from the larger 2/3 compartment. slip pocket on front with snap closure, adjustable strap.
If you want to bring the 80s back to your wardrobe or if purple is your fav, email me at firstname.lastname@example.org with bag 11, your name, and your address.
The other day I talked about my friend Joy and how when she died I got some of her purses. This Nine Wear bag was one of them. I asked J to choose a bag today. “Purple is my favorite color, so I brought this one,” she said.
This bag was my mom’s. When she died in 2001, Joy asked for one of her purses. Before I was friends with Joy, she and my mom were friends. I brought over several for her to choose from and she selected this one.
Joy loved to coordinate her bag with her outfit, just like my mom did. Joy would plan her outfit days in advance for an outing, complete with the purse. She didn’t carry this one everyday, but when she had a purple outfit she always rocked this baby.
Both of these women, along with my dear MIL Ida, blessed me so much with their wisdom, their frugality, and their love of bags. I hope my Lenten and Easter disciplines helps me to appreciate having less while experiencing the small blessings of my life more.
Today’s bag is a white Nine West shoulder bag with a frame bag in the middle with two outer zipper sections. A small scuff on the back is easily buffed away with polish. Modeled by Jaiya.
I hope you enjoyed my Lenten giveaway. I sure did, even though this Lent was yet again atypical. I wish you peace and blessings for the coming Easter season.
Please look back through the posts and see if there’s anything unclaimed that you’d like to have. Currently available are bags 6, 7, 17, 19, 20, 21, 22, 23, 24, 30, 31, 32, 33, 34, 39 and 40. Email me at email@example.com if you’re interested in any of those bags. They will go to Dress for Success next week.
Starting tomorrow I’ll be using a different bag every day for the 50 days of Easter. Looking back on the bags I’ve done through the last five years, many that I used in the 50 days of Easter end up in the 40 days of Lent giveaway. I’m excited to see how this year goes, and what more I’ll learn through this process. Happy Easter!
Sometimes a bag is such a great bargain, i can’t leave it in the thrift store. This Nine West shoulder bag contains a matching wrist wallet and a detachable keychain – what a bargain! I was going to keep the wristlet and get rid of the purse, but then i decided the set needed to stay a set. If you love pockets, pouches, and more organization, this is for you. Small bags like this can hold a lot when everything has its place.
Now don’t be put off by this moss/olivey color. It isn’t necessarily a great match with black, or brown, but if you wear it with a colorful top or dress, say with jeans or khakis, you’re styling. Oh and it’s VEGAN – the new lingo meaning it’s not made of leather. I love it. Email me at firstname.lastname@example.org if you like this one.
Jaiya really loves to model, and Kaia likes taking photos. This time they wanted to get Spencer into the mix. So here you are. Life with these girls! The best!
This little purple/lilac leather Nine West bag was another rescue from St. Vincent. First of all, I couldn’t believe it was leather. Not that it feels or looks cheap, mind you, but most of the Nine West bags I come across are faux leather these days. Second of all, it was $2. It would make a cute going-out purse or Easter bag. Velcro closure with a zipper pocket inside. Carry by hand, over the wrist, or it might fit on a tiny shoulder. Email me at email@example.com if you like it. Alarm clocks are alarming, and i stopped using them 25 or so years ago. Good thing my husband doesn’t use them either. For that and other reasons, daylight savings time kicks my butt every time. I just woke up from a 3 hour nap. But we’re thawing out, so if we have to lose an hour, at least we gained warmth and sunshine.
