bag 38

Brown suede no-name shoulder bag with grommets and fringe. You KNOW with my nutty crunchy brown-loving girl this left the thrift store post-haste. Tan paisley interior lining behind the grommets only. She’s over it, so it’s up for grabs.

day 38

Here’s a bag I really love even though it’s not a crossbody or backpack. But c’mon – it’s FRINGE. Ombre fringe. And blue isn’t even my favorite color – but who cares? This bag is LIT. It’s a Holding Horses tote by Anthropologie that I found at Clothes Mentor. If you don’t know about Clothes Mentor – you should check them out if you like bags. They have great bags from lots of brands including high-end designer bags. Clothes Mentor is in the Once Upon a Child and Plato’s Closet family but for grown ass women. I also love them for clothes, and sometimes shoes – gotta be careful with resale shoes, people.

day 7

Kaia loves Patricia Nash bags. She has one I got at the thrift store and one she bought herself when she graduated.

She and I were at TJ Maxx and saw this round fringe crossbody, we both wanted it, so we decided to share it. I bought it, and I let her use it whenever she wants.

bag 11 – claimed

Fringe. I don’t always love it, but when I do, it’s likely¬†on a bag. I bought this brown Raj fringe bag at TJ Maxx at least seventeen years ago, probably more. It’s a fun bag, but a bit of a black hole (meaning it’s cavernous with not a lot of organization inside) and I have another bag with fringe that I like a whole lot better. Even though I have loved this bag for years, it’s time to let it go.

I admit that I thought I would never get rid of this bag. I have a friend who really loves this bag and she said if I ever get rid of it to let her know. I was like, “yeah, girl, right… I’ll do that.” So I did that, but it’s up for grabs to you, too, because it’s a woman’s prerogative to change her mind.

One of my Lenten learnings through the years is that we don’t need all of this stuff. The more I give away, the more I want to give away. The more bags I give away, the better I feel. Many of you practice generosity during Lent; I love seeing what you’re doing. I pray that I can continue to be this generous throughout the rest of the year.

If you like this bag, email me at 50favbags@gmail.com with the following info: bag 11, your name, your address. Thanks!

day 30

This Raj brown leather fringe tote doesn’t get excessive use, but I’ve had it a long time. I got it at TJ Maxx around 15 or so years ago. It was fun to use today while out and about shuttling the girls around the world and back.

Day 3 a day late

IMG_0347This Holding Horses bag from Anthropologie got me through a long, busy day. I took the photo early in the day, but fell asleep before posting. Clothes Mentor is my next level up from the thrift store in terms of price point. You can find FABULOUS bags in there. If you’re not familiar with CLohtes Mentor, it’s in the family of Once Upon a Child (kids resale) and Plato’s Closet (juniors resale). It’s great for clothes and shoes, too. I paid around $14-$18 for this baby.

day 34

day 34 – brown fringe leather by raj

i went to a concert and then a party last night and got home pretty late. i got as far as typing in day 34, and the next thing i know it’s time to go to church. so, here is yesterday’s bag – a a brown leather fringe tote by raj. i looked it up online and it’s still for sale at their website – the connie bag for $200. i know i didn’t pay $200! i remember seeing this purse on the clearance rack and not believing it. it had a couple of pieces fringe missing, so i got it for a steal at $40.

now, i’ve been going back and categorizing my posts so that i can see how many bags so far came from tj maxx, target, or a thrift store. 22 came from thrifting, 6 from tj maxx, 2 from target, and 3 from various places. so when i do buy from tj maxx, i really think about it and don’t make purchases lightly.

that said, this is a swinging bag! it’s cavernous inside, with a zipper pocket and pouches, which made it perfect for a day of concerts and parties. first, my daughter sang with bel canto and the Cincinnati Public Schools Honor Choir. wonderful. then i went to a concert by the Cincinnati Choral Society featuring music written, arranged and conducted by my dear friend Howard Helvey. i can’t get enough of his amazing talent.

with this baby, i could haul my stuff, water bottle, coffee cup, jacket and later wine and bread for the party. the picture was taken at the party at my friend jean’s house. she has this cool bench that looks like a church pew. a fun bag for a fun day. peace.
